Hi @17Aarin,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Improving your HP laptop's battery backup can be achieved through a combination of hardware optimizations and software settings adjustments. Here are some tips to help you extend your battery life.
Adjust Power Settings
- Battery Saver Mode: Activate Battery Saver in Windows 11/10 to reduce power consumption when the battery is low. Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery and turn on Battery Saver.
- Power Plan Settings: Set your power plan to Power Saver or Balanced instead of High Performance. You can access this by going to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Sleep and Hibernate: Set your laptop to enter Sleep or Hibernate mode when inactive for a certain period. This prevents unnecessary battery drain.
Reduce Screen Brightness
- Lower your screen brightness when not needed at full intensity. You can adjust this using the keyboard keys (typically F1/F2) or through the Display settings in the Settings app.
Disable Unnecessary Background Apps
- Close unnecessary apps and disable background apps that you don't need. Go to Settings > Privacy > Background apps, and toggle off apps that don’t need to run in the background.
Update Drivers and BIOS
- Ensure your laptop’s drivers and BIOS are up to date. HP sometimes releases updates that optimize power consumption. You can check for updates in HP Support Assistant or by visiting the HP website.
Manage Startup Programs
- Disable unnecessary startup programs that run automatically when your laptop starts. You can do this by opening Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and going to the Startup tab to disable programs you don’t need.

Optimize Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
- Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not in use, as they consume power even when idle.
- Use Airplane Mode if you don't need internet connectivity.
Reduce Visual Effects
- Disable some of the visual effects that consume battery. Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Settings (under Performance), then choose Adjust for best performance to turn off many visual effects.
Use Dark Mode
- If your laptop has an OLED or AMOLED display, using Dark Mode can save battery by reducing the brightness and the power required to display lighter colors.
Battery Health Management
- HP laptops with HP Battery Health Manager can help extend battery lifespan. Check if it's enabled through HP Command Center or the HP Support Assistant app.
Unplug Peripherals
- Disconnect any peripherals (USB devices, external drives, etc.) that you don't need, as they can drain battery power.
By following these steps, you can significantly improve the battery backup of your HP laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
