I previously a conversation. When I went back to check the specifics, I had to Restart and I lost it. This is the complete conversation problem below:
Laptop when you start & press ESC quickly and press F9, it goes to a menu that says "Please Select Boot Drive. Press F10 to BIOS Setup Options, ESC to Exit.
When you Press F10, it goes to BIOS.
Going to Boot Options, I go to UEFI Boot Order.
I try to change it to USB Flash Drive/Hard Disk.
It just Beeps, with no change.
Thats not the problem. The problem is, When you start & press ESC quickly and press F9, it goes to a menu that says "Please Select Boot Drive. Press F10 to BIOS Setup Options, ESC to Exit.
When you Press F10, it goes to BIOS.
It doesn't allow you to go to F9, and the Boot Options Menu. I want to go to "Boot From EFI". I have a USB Flash Drive plugged in that was built by using the "Windows 10 Media Creation Tool". I have a file called "Windows.Iso".
With "Windows 10 Media Creation Tool", I built the "Windows.iso file into a bootable drive tool. It won't sllow me to use it because of the above problems.
Can you help?

Hi @LHCBC1,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble booting from a USB drive using your HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC (17-da0000) to reinstall or repair Windows using a bootable USB drive. Let's go through some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Steps to Boot from a USB on HP Envy 17-da0000:
Check if USB is Properly Set Up:
- Ensure the USB drive is properly created as a bootable drive using the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool.
- Verify that the file system on the USB is FAT32 (required for UEFI boot).
- The USB should have the necessary boot files, and the Windows ISO should be correctly written to the drive.
Enter BIOS to Adjust Boot Settings:
- Power off your laptop completely.
- Insert the bootable USB drive.
- Power it on and immediately press the ESC key repeatedly (about once per second) until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
Verify UEFI Boot Order:
- In BIOS, navigate to the Boot Options tab.
- Under UEFI Boot Order, ensure that USB Flash Drive is listed as the first option.
- If it’s not, try changing the boot order so that USB Flash Drive is prioritized. Use the arrow keys and instructions provided on the BIOS screen to move the USB to the top of the list.
Disable Secure Boot (if needed):
- While in BIOS, go to the Security or System Configuration tab.
- Look for Secure Boot and disable it. This may prevent the system from booting from non-HP devices.
- Next, ensure Legacy Support is enabled, if available, which might help with USB booting issues.
Save Changes and Reboot:
- After making changes, press F10 to save and exit BIOS.
- The laptop should now attempt to boot from the USB drive.
Boot from USB:
- Restart the laptop. Press ESC again and then F9 to bring up the Boot Device Options.
- Select the USB Flash Drive and press Enter. The laptop should now boot from the USB drive and start the Windows installation or repair process.
Additional Checks:
- Verify USB Functionality: Ensure that the USB drive is functional by testing it on another device.
- USB Port: If one USB port isn’t working, try plugging the USB into a different port (preferably a USB 2.0 port, if available).
If the Laptop Still Doesn’t Boot:
- If your laptop still beeps and doesn't allow you to boot from the USB or access the Boot Device Options, you may want to:
- Reset BIOS to Default: Enter the BIOS using F10, and reset the BIOS settings to their defaults.
- Update BIOS: If the BIOS is outdated, consider updating it using the HP website for your laptop model.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
