Hi @Brainy004,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP PC is encountering a startup issue with an "Auto Repair" problem. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue.
Restart Your PC:
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve the issue. If you haven’t already, try restarting your PC.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your PC and press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly during boot to enter Safe Mode. If successful, you can try troubleshooting from here.
Run Automatic Repair:
- If Safe Mode doesn’t work, you can attempt to run the automatic repair tool:
- Boot from Windows Installation Media: Insert a Windows installation USB or DVD and boot from it.
- Select your language preferences and click Next.
- Click on Repair your computer.
- Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
Check for Disk Errors:
- If Startup Repair doesn’t fix the problem, you can check for disk errors:
- Boot from Windows installation media.
- Select Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
- In the Command Prompt window, type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter. Follow the prompts to check and repair disk errors.
Perform a System Restore:
- If you have a restore point created before the issue began, you can try restoring your system to that point:
- Boot from Windows installation media.
- Select Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
- Follow the prompts to restore your system.
Reset Your PC:
- If other options fail, you might need to reset your PC:
- Boot from Windows installation media.
- Select Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
- Choose to keep your files or remove everything, then follow the prompts.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- Sometimes hardware issues can cause startup problems. Check connections, RAM, and hard drive. If you have spare parts, you might try swapping them to identify faulty hardware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
