Hi @Brainy004,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP PC is encountering a startup issue with an "Auto Repair" problem. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue.

Restart Your PC:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve the issue. If you haven’t already, try restarting your PC.

Boot into Safe Mode:

  • Restart your PC and press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly during boot to enter Safe Mode. If successful, you can try troubleshooting from here.

Run Automatic Repair:

  • If Safe Mode doesn’t work, you can attempt to run the automatic repair tool:
    1. Boot from Windows Installation Media: Insert a Windows installation USB or DVD and boot from it.
    2. Select your language preferences and click Next.
    3. Click on Repair your computer.
    4. Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.

Check for Disk Errors:

  • If Startup Repair doesn’t fix the problem, you can check for disk errors:
    1. Boot from Windows installation media.
    2. Select Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
    3. In the Command Prompt window, type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter. Follow the prompts to check and repair disk errors.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If you have a restore point created before the issue began, you can try restoring your system to that point:
    1. Boot from Windows installation media.
    2. Select Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
    3. Follow the prompts to restore your system.

Reset Your PC:

  • If other options fail, you might need to reset your PC:
    1. Boot from Windows installation media.
    2. Select Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
    3. Choose to keep your files or remove everything, then follow the prompts.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Sometimes hardware issues can cause startup problems. Check connections, RAM, and hard drive. If you have spare parts, you might try swapping them to identify faulty hardware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
