My brand-new PC keeps showing an Intel Optane “disk at risk / SMART event” warning, but Windows Storage shows Healthy and WMIC says OK. Can you confirm if this model should have Intel Optane software installed, or if this is a driver issue?

Hi @rrcaero

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I acknowledge the concern you’ve raised regarding the Intel Optane “disk at risk / SMART event” warning. It’s good that you’ve already checked Windows Storage and WMIC, and both report the drive as healthy—this helps narrow down where the inconsistency may be coming from.

To better understand the situation, could you share the following details:

  • The exact HP product model name or number.
  • Whether Intel Optane Memory or Intel Rapid Storage Technology software was preinstalled on this PC.
  • If any updates or driver installations have been attempted since the warning appeared.

This information will help us determine whether the alert is related to Optane software requirements for your specific model or if it points toward a driver mismatch.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
