Hi @Kaligeiyi,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your HP Slimline Desktop 260-a040il gets stuck on a blue screen with the message “v192 ran into a problem and needs to restart.” That kind of issue can feel like your workday is being held hostage by a frozen screen. Let's walk through this together step by step.

Troubleshooting Steps for Blue Screen Errors

HP has a dedicated guide to help resolve blue screen issues on Windows PCs. Here's what you can do:

Step 1: Disable Automatic Restart

This helps you see the actual error message instead of the system restarting immediately.

  1. Press Windows + R, type sysdm.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab → under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
  3. Uncheck Automatically restart → click OK.

Step 2: Perform a Power Reset

This clears temporary memory and can fix startup issues.

  1. Shut down the PC.
  2. Disconnect all peripherals (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  3. Unplug the power cord.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power and try turning it on.

Step 3: Boot into Safe Mode

If the system still shows a blue screen:

  1. Turn off the PC.
  2. Turn it on and immediately press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly.
  3. Choose Safe Mode with Networking.
  4. From here, you can uninstall recent updates or drivers that may be causing the issue.

Step 4: Use System Restore

If Safe Mode works:

  1. Go to Control Panel → Recovery → Open System Restore.
  2. Choose a restore point before the issue started.

Step 5: Run HP Diagnostics

HP provides a built-in tool to check hardware health:

  • Restart your PC and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  • Run System Tests and note any errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
