Resolving "Preparing Automatic Repair" on HP 250 G6 Notebook PC

If your HP 250 G6 Notebook PC is stuck on the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen, it indicates a problem might be preventing your Windows from booting correctly. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the computer completely.
  2. Disconnect any external devices (e.g., USB drives, printers).
  3. Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  4. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  5. Reinsert the battery and reconnect the charger.
  6. Turn on the computer to see if it boots normally.

Step 2: Use System Repair

  1. Power on the computer and press the F11 key repeatedly until the HP recovery environment appears.
  2. Select the Troubleshoot option.
  3. Choose Advanced Options and then Startup Repair.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a startup repair.

Step 3: Boot in Safe Mode

  1. Force restart the computer a few times until you see the Automatic Repair screen.
  2. Choose Advanced Options and go to Startup Settings.
  3. Click Restart and then press F4 to boot into Safe Mode.
  4. Once in Safe Mode, update or uninstall any recently installed drivers or software that may be causing the problem.

Step 4: Run System File Checker (SFC)

  1. Boot into Safe Mode (as described above).
  2. Right-click on the Start menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).

Step 5: Reset the PC

  1. If none of the above works, you may need to reset the PC.
  2. Navigate to Advanced Options > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  3. Choose whether to keep your files or remove everything.
