Hi @Bamsprogram

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Envy 23 is stuck in a loop where it's trying to repair disk errors, but isn't able to complete the process. This can be caused by various factors, like file system corruption, bad sectors on the hard drive, or other issues with the disk. Here are a few steps you can try to fix the issue:

1. Let the Repair Process Finish (if possible)

If your computer is still attempting repairs, allow it to run for several hours (or overnight) to see if it can fix the errors. Sometimes, the process takes a long time, especially if there’s significant damage to the file system.

2. Restart the Computer in Safe Mode

Try restarting your computer in Safe Mode to bypass some of the normal startup processes. To do this:

  1. Turn off the computer completely.
  2. Turn it back on and press F8 (or Shift + F8) repeatedly during startup.
  3. Select Safe Mode from the menu.
  4. Once in Safe Mode, try running CHKDSK (Check Disk) to check for disk errors manually (see step 3).

3. Run CHKDSK from Command Prompt

CHKDSK is a utility that can check for disk errors and fix some of them. To run it:

Boot your PC into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE):

  • Turn off your PC, then turn it back on. When you see the HP logo, press the F11 key repeatedly to open the Recovery options.

In the recovery menu, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.

In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:

  • C: is your primary drive. If your system is on another drive, replace it with the correct drive letter.
  • /f tells CHKDSK to fix errors, and /r tells it to locate bad sectors and recover readable information.

Allow CHKDSK to run and complete. This may take some time depending on the size of your disk and the number of errors it needs to fix.

4. Perform a System Restore

If the above steps don’t help, you can try performing a System Restore to revert your system to a previous working state:

  1. Boot into the Recovery Environment again (same as above).
  2. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
  3. Select a restore point from a time before the errors started occurring and follow the prompts to restore the system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
