Hi @DDogg247,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I Understand that your concern, don’t worry I will help you with this .

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. What is your exact HP laptop model and age?
  2. When did this issue start?
    • After a BIOS update, Windows update, or hardware change?
  3. Does the BIOS detect your hard drive/SSD?
    • You can check by pressing Esc → F10 on startup to enter BIOS
  4. Have you tried any recovery media or system restore yet?
  5. Is the laptop showing any other messages or just “Boot Device Not Found”?

Troubleshooting steps to try

1. Check BIOS boot order

  1. Turn on the laptop and press Esc → F10 to enter BIOS
  2. Go to System Configuration → Boot Options
  3. Make sure your internal hard drive/SSD is listed as the first boot device
  4. If not, adjust the boot order and save changes

2. Run BIOS diagnostics

  1. Power on and press Esc → F2
  2. Run Hard Drive / Storage Test
  3. Note any errors this will tell you if the drive is failing

3. Reset BIOS to default settings

  1. Enter BIOS (Esc → F10)
  2. Look for Restore Defaults / Load Setup Defaults
  3. Save and exit
  4. This can sometimes restore the boot path if settings were changed accidentally

4. Check physical connections (if comfortable)

  • If you’re experienced with laptop hardware, ensure the internal drive is securely connected
  • Loose connections can trigger “Boot Device Not Found”

5. Use HP Recovery or Windows installation media

  • If the BIOS detects the drive but it still won’t boot:
    1. Create a Windows 10/11 USB recovery drive on another computer
    2. Boot from it → choose Repair your computer → Troubleshoot → Startup Repair

I hope this helps.
