Hi @Fairygodmother7

Welcome to the HP Support Community! Thanks for posting your query!

Got it—thank you for clarifying. Before we jump into solutions, it’s important to narrow down what’s blocking the upgrade. Windows 11 updates can fail for different reasons: hardware compatibility, BIOS settings, storage space, or even account and update configurations.

To isolate the issue, could you share a bit more detail:

  • What exact HP laptop model are you using?
  • Are you trying to upgrade from Windows 10, or is this a fresh installation attempt?
  • Do you see any specific error message or code when the update fails, or does it just stop partway?
  • How much free storage space is available on your system drive?
  • Have you already checked whether your device meets the Windows 11 minimum requirements (TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, processor compatibility)?

With these details, we’ll be able to pinpoint whether it’s a compatibility block, a configuration issue, or something else.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
