My key f12 is not working after a Windows 11 update bricked my laptop. After installing Windows 11, all function keys work except for F12 (which controls the thermal profile). How to make this work again - I am unable to find a solution to this. Thank you!

Hi @VideoGuy1000,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
1. Update Drivers and Software
Windows Update:
- Ensure you have the latest Windows updates installed.
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and click on Check for updates.
HP Support Assistant:
- Download and install HP Support Assistant from HP's official website.
- Open HP Support Assistant and check for any updates for your laptop.
2. Check Keyboard Driver
- Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Keyboards section.
- Right-click on your keyboard device and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
3. HP Command Center
- HP Command Center Utility:
- HP Spectre x360 laptops often have the HP Command Center which controls thermal profiles.
- Ensure the HP Command Center is updated and properly installed.
- If it's not installed, download it from HP's software and driver download page.
4. BIOS Update
- Check and Update BIOS:
- Sometimes the issue could be resolved by updating the BIOS.
- Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your laptop model (HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 14-ea1000) and check if there is an updated BIOS available.
- Download and install the latest BIOS update.
5. Function Key Behavior Settings
- Adjust Function Key Settings:
- Some HP laptops allow users to change the behavior of function keys.
- Restart your laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS setup.
- Navigate to the System Configuration section.
- Check the settings related to Function Key Behavior and adjust them if necessary.
I hope this helps.
