Hi. I have a Windows 11 Version 25H2 (64-bit). This notebook is less than a year-old, so it is still brand new. It has gone through the regular automatic Microsoft updates since I purchased it. I bought this device to do virtual conferences. The camera was working.

However, my last zoom conference, I noticed the camera was absent on the zoom tab. I checked under my laptop setting under Devices and it says, "No Camera Found." I then checked under Device Manager, and the driver is missing. I scanned for Hardware changes and still nothing. I have started and restarted the computer and still nothing.

I went on HP support for assistance, but my OS version is not listed on the menu (only a 23H and a 24H versions are listed).

At this point I am at a loss.  Why would a brand-new laptop be missing a critical component which I am guessing might have been caused after an automatic update? Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem? This is becoming very frustrating. Help!

HI @VIJoshua9000,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your camera drivers might be missing or not properly installed. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this issue on your HP laptop:

Update Device Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website:  https://support.hp.com/us-en.
  • Enter your laptop's model number to find the correct drivers.
  • Download and install the camera driver.

Reinstall Camera Driver:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Click on "Scan for hardware changes" to detect the camera.
  • If the camera still doesn't show up, go to the HP Support website https://support.hp.com/us-en, download the latest driver for your camera, and manually install it.

Check Windows Update:

  • Ensure your Windows 11 is up to date by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates. Sometimes, Windows updates can resolve driver issues.

HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant tool HP Support Assistant | HP® Support to help you find and install drivers. Open the HP Support Assistant from the Windows Start Menu, and follow the on-screen instructions to troubleshoot the camera issue.

BIOS Update:

  • Check if there is an update to the BIOS on HP's website https://support.hp.com/us-en for your laptop model. A BIOS update might include fixes for camera issues.

Reset Camera App:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
  • Scroll down to the Camera app.
  • Click on it and select "Advanced Options."
  • Click "Reset."

Check Permissions:

  • Ensure the Camera app has the necessary permissions. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera. Ensure that "Camera access" is turned on for apps.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
