My laptop doesn't work properly with Ubuntu

Hi all,

Currently i am using laptop HP Probook 450 G3-X4K55PA, i need to use Ubuntu for my work, so i installed Ubuntu 16.04.

My laptop doesn't work well with this OS, when i plug a monitor via HDMI port, my laptop hangs, it can't work anymore, so i must turn off the power.

When i put my laptop in sleep mode, it can't come back, it is hanged, i must turn off power to take it back.

I tried to install different Ubuntu version many times, but it still has the issues.

I install WIndows on my laptop, it works well.

Please help to solve the issues with Ubuntu.

I am afraid this PC officially supports Windows OS only and Linux-based like Ubuntu are not officially supported.

Therefore, you may experience certain issues while with Ubuntu due to the lack of proper drivers loaded there (in the Kernel).

Ubuntu 16.04 uses Kernel 4. You may try older Ubuntu versions such as with kernel 3.13/3.16/3.19 - Ubuntu 14 LTS

You can also try to post at the Ubuntu forums where Linux/Ubuntu gurus may be able to provide you with specific advice about the problem

An alternative option would be to install Windows as a main (host) operating system but run Linux Ubuntu as a virtual one from inside Windows using free software like Oracle VirtualBox >> https://www.virtualbox.org/

Using any laptops with Linux distros is a hit-or-miss proposition.  I've been doing that with laptops for over ten years, and more than once, I've had to restore Windows to a laptop due to Linux kernel changes that stopped previously working Linux drivers from operating correctly anymore.

An additional problem with the current Linux versions is that AMD has dropped support for their proprieatry driver (fglrx) and is phasing in an entirely new driver -- but as it all too typical of AMD, it ONLY works with the very newest AMD video chipsets.
