@ShagunAgarwal, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP laptop freezes after logging in despite performing updates and checking the Task Manager, you can try the following steps to resolve this issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Perform a hard reset to clear the temporary memory, which can help resolve freezing issues.

  • Turn off the computer.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove any discs or memory cards.
  • Disconnect all peripheral devices except the mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter and turn on the computer.

2. Close Unresponsive Applications

Even if Task Manager checks didn’t point to an issue, closing potentially unresponsive applications forcibly might help.

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • Under ‘Processes’, look for applications that have stopped responding.
  • Select the application and click “End Task”.

3. Prevent Overheating

Make sure your laptop's air vents are not blocked, which can cause overheating and freeze-ups.

  • Use compressed air to clean dust from the vents and increase airflow.

4. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

Use HP’s built-in diagnostics tool to identify hardware issues.

  • Open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows app.
  • Run an Extensive Test to check for potential hardware problems.

5. Use System Restore

If the problem started recently, restoring your system to a previous working state might help.

  • Restart your computer and press “F11” to enter System Recovery.
  • Choose “Troubleshoot” -> “Advanced options” -> “System Restore”.

6. Check for BIOS Update

Ensure your BIOS is up-to-date, as sometimes BIOS updates can solve system freeze problems.

  • Use the HP Support Assistant or manually check the HP Support website for possible BIOS updates.
  • Follow the instructions for updating the BIOS safely.

7. Reset Windows

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you might need to reset Windows, which will reinstall the operating system while keeping your files.

  • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Recovery.
  • Click on "Get started" under “Reset this PC” and choose the option to keep your files.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
