Hello!
My computer is from 2017/2018 and has an eighth-generation CPU, and HP recovery software to reset factory defaults, came with Windows 10 1703.
I want to change the mechanical hard drive from a 1TB HDD to a 512GB SSD.
Will the HP recovery software for resetting factory defaults that came with Windows 10 1703 recognize the SATA III SSD?
The BIOS is updated to the year 2023.
Thanks and best regards!

Hi:
Yes, it should work for you.
You can use the HP cloud recovery tool to reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

If you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.

Hello,
But I already have a USB stick created with HP Recovery Software since 2018.
Won't that USB stick with HP Recovery Software that I created in 2018 detect the 512GB SSD?
Do I have to use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool again?
I thought you could only use the HP Recovery USB stick once, which in my case was created in 2018.
I don't want to pay anything for the cost of the software!
Thank you and best regards.

You're very welcome.
The cloud recovery tool use is free of charge.
You can create a recovery image of your notebook as many times as you want.
If you have already made a recovery USB if the original HP factory image, then it won't be necessary to make a new one.

Hello again,
Thank you very much for your help and availability!
I managed to understand everything, thanks to you!
By the way, out of curiosity, since what year does HP Software Recovery support SSD (Solid-state drives)?
Best regards!

You're very welcome.
Since the 15-bsXXX model series can come with M.2 SATA III SSD's, the recovery images would have been designed to support mechanical hard drives and solid-state drives as well.
See chapter 1 of the service manual for the drive types offered in the model series.

Hello again,
According to this manual, it refers to a TLC SSD.
Does the site I'm showing below support this SSD?
Regarding memory, from what I can see in Windows Task Manager, this laptop has 2 memory slots. So, I can apply the following DDR4-2400 8GB memory additionally, to get 16GB of RAM, right?
The voltage of the DDR4 to be inserted in this laptop is 1.2v, so does it support this laptop, as indicated on the website below?
8GB DDR4 1.2v RAM to buy
Thank you again. Best regards!
