Hi @Ibrahim70

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to have your laptop hanging and updates not installing. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try before seeking direct support:

1. Free Up Space

  • Ensure that your laptop has enough storage space. You can delete unnecessary files or use disk cleanup tools.

2. Check for Malware

  • Run a full antivirus scan to check for malware or viruses that could be affecting performance.

3. Update Drivers

  • Ensure all drivers are up to date. You can do this via Device Manager or by visiting the HP support website for your model.

4. Perform Windows Update Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters and select Windows Update to run the troubleshooter.

5. Check Task Manager

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Look for any processes using excessive CPU or memory and consider closing them.

6. Disable Startup Programs

  • Disable unnecessary startup programs that could be slowing down your system. You can do this in Task Manager under the Startup tab.

7. System File Check

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command: sfc /scannow. This will check for and attempt to repair corrupted system files.

8. Reset Windows Update Components

  • If updates are stuck, you can reset Windows Update components using commands in Command Prompt. Search online for specific steps.

9. Consider a System Restore

  • If the problem started recently, you might consider restoring your system to an earlier point when it was functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
