Hi @shakuntalapatil,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your laptop may be experiencing some issues with booting up properly after a Windows update. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue.

  • Try Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key repeatedly while it's starting up. Once in Safe Mode, you can attempt to uninstall any recent updates or drivers that might be causing the problem.
  • Startup Repair: If Safe Mode doesn't work, try using the Startup Repair tool. You can access it by booting from a Windows installation disc or USB drive. Follow the on-screen instructions to attempt repairs to your system.
  • System Restore: If you have previously created a system restore point, you can try restoring your system to a point before the Windows update was installed. This can often resolve issues caused by problematic updates.
  • Check Disk: Use the built-in Check Disk utility to scan your system for errors and repair any corrupted files. You can do this by booting into the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and selecting the Command Prompt option. Then, type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter.
  • Reset or Refresh: As a last resort, you may need to reset or refresh your Windows installation. This will reinstall Windows while keeping your personal files intact (refresh) or removing all files and reinstalling Windows (reset). You can access these options from the Windows Recovery Environment.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem causing the startup issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
