I understand your concerns as I'm isolated at home, too -- but we are not HP Tech Support and we can not tell you how to make repairs to your PC.

We also have no way to run diagnostics on your PC for you. You can try running them yourself by pressing the Esc key repeatedly while rebooting and when the HP startup menu appears, press F2 to run the diags.

Wish I had good news for you, but I don't.

Unlike external keyboards, the ones on laptops are not made to be rugged, but instead, to be light. Thus, if you get five years out of a laptop keyboard, you're doing very well.

Individual keys are generally not replaceable, but if the keys are not broken, then the issue is more likely with the membrane underneath the keyboard and that has to be replaced as a unit.

Here's some troubleshooting steps you can try: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03738933

If you are experienced at laptop repairs, you can often replace a keyboard for $25 for a new one and a half-hours work. I have done this on older HP laptops.

But, if you're NOT, there is a serious risk of breaking fragile connectors and cables doing this -- so I do not recommend it.

Instead, I would recommend you hunting down a local laptop repair place to have THEM replace the keyboard. Should only be an hour's work or less.

hello. I'm using my touch screen to write this.  I had the mouse pointer working but thats now not.  from me dropping this open face down flat, could I hv knocked out a connector inside to the touch screen? just a connector? with this virus I'm home not comfortable to send it to get fixed. I'm handy n can replace should I need the whole keyboard replaced. the red volume off lit up last night as I did it from touchscreen. backlight not working or keys communicating.

Hi there.. last night I did as you mentioned. I tried a few things. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it again.  I did the power press F2...

Nothing worked. I let my battery drain after it got unplugged.

And today Once I rebooted - It had the diagnostic screen and I chose - something I can't remember which chose  and NOw everything is working perfectly!  Thank you so much for your guidance.
