Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My 15-dy4013dx laptop turns on but the screen remains blank and the caps lock key keeps flashing 3 slow lights followed by 2 fast. It was okay until it overheated yesterday and since then this is the situation. The laptop is only 1.5 years old and there was never any other problems.

Hi @Denzi2000

That LED frequency indicates that the memory is damaged or not compatible. Try opening the laptop and if you have two memories remove one memory and test and swap the memory between slots.

- if I can help solve your question or issue, please click on ACCEPT AS SOLUTION or click the YES button if my answer was helpful.

thank you for your help. It did work when I removed one of the RAM modules. Now that I know one of the RAM modules is faulty, do I have to order a new one?

You are welcome, if you wish you can buy a new memory, otherwise you can use less memory.
