I was working on my laptop and then itnsuddenly shut down, it was so random and without warning. It was a "glitched" black screen and I knew something was up because my laptop has never turned off like that. It wouldn't turn on until I put the charger on, but the battery was full when it shut down. Now it's on a loop with the "dignosing the PC" blue screen. It hasn't dignosed anything and it keeps on saying the PC didn't restart correctly when I have restarted it more than 6 times already. I'm hoping my files, passwords, downloaded files on the laptop, and everything is saved. I never knew how to back up this laptop.

Hi @Hafsa5,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your laptop is experiencing some serious issues, but there's a good chance your files are still intact. Let's try to troubleshoot the problem and see if we can get your laptop back up and running smoothly.
First, let's address the issue with it not turning on without the charger. This could indicate a problem with the battery or the power management system. Try the following steps:
- Reset the Laptop: Sometimes, a simple reset can fix minor glitches. Disconnect the charger, remove the battery if it's removable, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds, then reinsert the battery (if removable) and try turning it on again.
- Check the Battery: If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it and then reconnecting it securely. If it doesn't, skip this step.
- Check Power Adapter: Ensure that the power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and the power outlet. Try using a different power outlet or a different power adapter if you have access to one.
Now, regarding the loop with the "diagnosing the PC" blue screen, it seems like your operating system might be corrupted.
Here's what you can try:
- Boot into Safe Mode: Try booting your laptop into Safe Mode. This will load only essential system files and drivers, which might help in bypassing the loop. To boot into Safe Mode, repeatedly press the F8 key (or another key depending on your laptop model) immediately after turning on your laptop until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu. From there, select Safe Mode using the arrow keys and press Enter.
- Use System Restore: If you can boot into Safe Mode, try performing a System Restore to revert your system to a previous stable state. You can access System Restore from the Advanced Boot Options menu.
- Repair Windows: If the above steps don't work, you might need to repair your Windows installation. You can use a Windows installation USB or DVD to boot into the Windows Recovery Environment and use the repair options available there.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
