My notebook is:
- HP 14 Notebook PC
- Product Number: F4J42LA#AKH
- Model: 14-r017la Rev 220F-100
- Serial: >Do not include the product serial number or any private information<
I've tried several combinations, and the system doesn't recognize the serial number as valid.
What do I need to enter to fully identify my notebook? I need this information to download a compatible BIOS, since the notebook's hard drive failed, and I installed a new one, but the BIOS only shows me the main menu; I can't navigate to the other menus.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

HP has retired support for your notebook since it is more than 10 years old, which is why you can't find any information on it.

I doubt that updating the BIOS is going to solve the problem you have.

Can you get to the F9 boot options menu so you can install Windows on the new drive?

To do that, turn on or restart the PC.

Immediately tap...tap...tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu and from that select the USB flash drive and press the enter key.

The PC should boot from the Windows installation flash drive.

Below are the info and exe file links to the last BIOS update HP released for your notebook (F.43):

Watch these videos for how to create and use a BIOS recovery flash drive with the above exe file using another Windows PC since yours does not have an operating system installed.
