My new HP chromebook with pentium prrocessor has failed. It is one month old. The screen was frozen and it said "chromeos is missing or damaged". I learned about the chrome recovery utility but that utility will not download on a USB stick after 4 tries. I have the invoice to prove that I bought the HP chromebook recently but HP says the warranty is expired. TigerDirect , who sold me the computer, says this is not true and the computer is brand new and still under warranty. Thank you, Ted

You will have to submit an online warranty dispute form or contact HP customer service and speak to a customer services rep to get the warranty start and end dates adjusted.

This is a reply to Paul_Tikkanen. Paul, HP does not make it easy for an ordinary person to dispute a warranty claim. If one tries online HP sends one going around in circles. The issue was resolved in my favor after calling an 800 number. But the 800 number was not obvious on HP's website. I got it elsewhere. Regards, Edward Raymond

I went to the HP support site because the charger light keeps blinking and i've tried all the fixes. I discovered they were saying my warranty had expired on the chromebook I just bought. I disputed the expired warranty and an email was sent saying I needed to send the proof of purchase. I did that and I have not heard anything else. I can't get in touch with any one from the warranty department. In fact, I don't think real people work at HP support. I replied to the email that was sent to me and it comes back as non deliverable. Trying to find out what is going on has wasted a lot of my time. How can a warranty be expired on a chromebook I just bought? This concerns me greatly.

Yes, HP is wearing me out. They make it very difficult to dispute a warranty. I wish I had that 1800 number. I'm going to end up filing some better business bureau complaints. I've alread gone to the site, but that is going to be time consuming also. What is the purpose of HP doing this?

My chromebook was purchased from TigerDirect and they gave me this HP support number: 800-474-6836. I actually talked to someone after three days . His name is Aram and he took care of me. The chromebook went to Texas for repair and came back soon after. Good luck. -Flashted
