Hey everyone,
I'm trying to use the HP Cloud Recovery Client to make a recovery USB for my ZBook 15 G5, but it's not detecting my SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe 256GB. The drive works fine in Windows, shows up in File Explorer, and even boots fine when I use tools like Rufus — but the HP Cloud Recovery Client just refuses to detect it.
I've already tried cleaning and formatting with Diskpart, changing ports, and using NTFS, but nothing works.
So I need help:
⚠️Can anyone tell me which USB flash drives 100% work with the HP Cloud Recovery Client?
I'm fine buying a new one, just want to make sure it works this time.
I have shortlisted some HP USB Drives :
HP x796w 64GB USB 3.2 Flash Drive
HP 818w 32GB USB 3.2 Flash Drive Silver Metal
HP 712w 64GB USB 3.2 Flash Drive- Black
Thanks!

Hi:
You only need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create a recovery drive with.
I have had great success using PNY flash drives for both the consumer and business class versions of the HP cloud recovery software:
PNY USB 2.0 Flash Drive/Pen Drive 32GB - Attaché 4 : Amazon.in: Electronics
Less than $5 USD.

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I would not know.
A few years ago I bought a 5-pack of 32 GB PNY flash drives to make recovery drives with and they all worked for me.
I've actually used one several times to make recovery media for different model HP notebooks.
I can only advise you as to what worked for me.
Surely other drives would work but I am in no position to say which are guaranteed to work other than the ones I used.
I also recommend you buy a drive that is no greater than 32 GB.
Some larger capacity drives have a tendency not to work for some reason.

I only used the 32 GB drives, so I don't know.
Like I wrote before, you don't need a 64 GB flash drive to make the recovery media.
Some folks have used 64 GB and 128 GB drives and they don't always work for some reason.

I am going to get the laptop in the next 5 months so what ae the chances that PNY could stop working or the size needed might increase, because I am going to buy the USB at that time
if this happens, I have the current version of the HP Cloud Recovery Client downloaded on my pc so will it be ok if I use the same version in the future?

Thank You so much bro.
I have another question:
I am using an HP ZBook 15 G5. I noticed that HP Image Assistant (HPIA) only lists support up to Windows 11 version 22H2 for my device.
I am planning to install Windows 11 version 24H2. Will HPIA still function correctly with this version on my ZBook?
Please confirm if I can use HPIA normally, or if I should expect any compatibility issues.
Thank you,
VENOM

You're very welcome.
I have never used that software before.
The table shows it is only supported for your notebook up to W11 22H2.
It must be based on the age of the notebook, because I see newer models have support for later versions of W11.
