Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

Use this guide to find that information...

HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cs0

Prod N;umber: 4AL57UA#ABA

Serial Number: [Personal Information Removed]

Born: 08/27/2018

Intel Core i7-8550U @1.8GHz

I didn't ask the question, but my wife's laptop, which she has  never used after buying it several months ago, would not boot Windows when I decided to use it myself . I went to internal diagnostics to see if I could get it to start and that apparently was a mistake since after I tried them the computer won't boot up at all. I get a black screen with a message to the effect "boot disk not found, install Windows" I have been following HP's suggestions for several hours and they show nothing wrong, but can't boot Windows. I get the impression that I must have removed it while using online diagnostics.

Incidentally, the laptop did work when she bought it. I started it and did a few minor things to see; Checked my email using webmail, went to Cox.net and downloaded virus software, checked a few financial apps and gave it to her to use. Saw no problems at that time.

I would appreciate any suggestions that will help me get it to boot Windows or reload it if necessary. It is my understanding that HP has a partition with a backup copy of the original software on the computer? I can't find that and get no help from them.

Thanks for listening and any help you can give.

Hi:

You can make your own bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery client tool.

If your wife's PC isn't working, create the media using another Windows PC.

Here is an info link for how to use the cloud recovery tool.
