Microsoft Windows 11

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have been experiencing an issue where Windows 11 does not recognize the TPM, despite it being present in my computer. The TPM is enabled in the BIOS, but since a BIOS update—which has been a while ago—the TPM has not been recognized by the system. There have been several BIOS updates since, but the problem remains unresolved. This is a serious issue as Windows considers my computer unsupported, forcing me to use alternative installation methods to maintain my system. I find this quite disappointing, especially since other manufacturers have managed to resolve similar issues.

Best regards.

Hi @vladam,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I can understand how frustrating this must be, especially since TPM is essential for Windows 11 compatibility and security.

I have a few questions to assist you better.

  • After each BIOS update, did you notice any changes in the Device Manager under “Security Devices” or see TPM-related options in Windows settings?
  • Have you tried clearing or reinitializing the TPM in the BIOS, and if so, did it make any difference?
  • Are there any errors or warning messages related to TPM in the Windows Event Viewer that might give more insight?

In the meantime let's try these steps.

Clear the TPM from BIOS: Enter your BIOS settings, navigate to the Security or Trusted Computing section, and choose to “Clear” or “Reset” the TPM. Restart the laptop and check if Windows now recognizes the TPM.

Enable “Security Device” in BIOS: Occasionally, updates can disable the TPM-related settings. Double-check that Security Device Support or similar TPM options are set to “Enabled” in the BIOS. Save any changes and restart to see if TPM is recognized.

Update the TPM Driver in Device Manager: Go to Device Manager, find Security Devices, and look for Trusted Platform Module 2.0. Right-click and choose Update Driver. If it’s missing, go to View > Show hidden devices to see if it’s hidden and update or reinstall the driver.

Use the Windows TPM Troubleshooter: Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Look for and run the Device Troubleshooter, which may detect TPM or driver issues and attempt to resolve them.

Check for BIOS Rollback Option: If none of the above steps work, consider a BIOS rollback. Some HP models allow you to install a previous version, which may restore TPM functionality. Go to HP’s support site, search for your model, and check if previous BIOS versions are available to download and install.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Please, solve this... It is known problem. Many motherboard manufacturers managed to solve this...

AGESA version seems to be reason of this problem. I'm IT professional there is no issue with laptop that needs to be treated in service center. Problem is that BIOS recognize TPM but Windows don't.
