Hi @vpccp,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

  • Check HP's Official Website: Visit the official HP website (https://support.hp.com/) and navigate to the "Software and Drivers" section. Enter your printer's model number and select your operating system (in your case, macOS 12.6). Download the recommended driver package.
  • Apple Software Update: Often, macOS updates include drivers for various printers. Connect your printer to your MacBook Air and then check for updates by going to the Apple menu > "System Preferences" > "Software Update". If a printer driver update is available, it will be listed here.
  • Using AirPrint: macOS often includes built-in support for printers that are compatible with AirPrint. You can check if your HP printer supports AirPrint and connect to it without needing to install additional drivers. To do this, go to the Apple menu > "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners". Click the "+" button to add a printer and see if your HP printer is automatically detected.
  • HP Easy Start: HP provides a software utility called "HP Easy Start" that can help you set up and install printer drivers. This utility might detect your printer and provide the necessary drivers. You can download it from the official HP website.
  • Manual Installation: If you can't find a specific driver for macOS 12.6, you might need to use a generic driver that comes with macOS. Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners" > click "+" to add a printer. If your printer is detected, macOS might suggest a driver. If not, you can often select a generic driver that matches your printer's brand.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
