HP Recommended

Hello everyone,

I own an HP EliteBook 850 G4 and recently updated my BIOS using HP’s automatic driver update tool. Unfortunately, after the update, my laptop hasn’t been behaving well, especially the fan. Previously, the fan would stay on when temperatures reached 80-90°C, but now it spins only for a short time before stopping, repeating this cycle.

I wanted to revert to the previous BIOS version, but when I checked HP’s drivers page, I only found the latest version—the one I had just updated to.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

- Resetting BIOS settings to default → No changes.

- Looking for BIOS rollback options → I don’t think my laptop supports this, but I’m not entirely sure.

Since I don’t know the exact BIOS version I was using before the update, I’m wondering:

1. Is there any way to find out my previous BIOS version?

2. Does the EliteBook 850 G4 support BIOS rollback, and if so, how can I access older versions?

3. Has anyone successfully downgraded their BIOS on this model?

Thanks in advance for any help!
