Ok.. bare with me for a bit. I got my laptop in 2014 (no longer has a warranty) & in about 2016/2017 the battery started to go out. I had to keep the power adapter in for it to stay on. Eventually, I pushed it to the side & said I would come back to it once I get a replacement battery. Well, 2020 is that year. Last week I tried to turn on my laptop & it still worked, somewhat. I pressed ESC so it went into system recovery mode, which took about a day but it worked (I just forgot my password to get in). Today the replacement battery I ordered came in. When I turned my laptop on the HP logo popped up for a bit with “Please Wait” under it then it goes to a black glowing screen. Since I know my laptop still works, I just wanted to know how I get it to properly start up?

***Update***

So I put the new battery in & did a system quick test. Everything passed except “Hard Drive Short DST Check”. What do I do from here?
