Stream
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to update my stream to the most current version of Windows. Of course there isn’t enough room to do it. I created the media creation tool on another computer. I can see all the files on the flash drive. I inserted the usb into the stream, tapped escape till a screen came up giving me the option to hit f9. Did that and selected boot from usb. I get an error saying it doesn’t recognize the flash drive. What step am I missing?

Hi:

Test the flash drive you created on another PC and confirm that it boots from the flash drive.

Once you get to the Install Now window, you can cancel out and shut down your PC.

Now that you have confirmed it is the Stream that has the problem and not the flash drive...see if this works...

Turn on your Stream notebook, tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F10 setup menu to get access to the BIOS.

See if there is a setting to enable legacy mode and disable secure boot.

If there is, make those changes.   See this link for the settings to change.

Save the changes, have your bootable flash drive in the USB port.

Get to the F9 boot options menu, and there should now be a legacy USB diskette on key (flash drive) boot option.

Select that option and see if the notebook now boots from the flash drive.

While @Paul_Tikkanen is right about Win10 install media, here are some tips you can follow to clean up some of the disk space on your PC prior to running the install:

Hi, @Mybubbles65

In addition to what WAWood suggested, if I owned a Stream notebook with a tiny 32 GB eMMC drive, I would follow the guidance at the link below...This will allow you to use your notebook for a longer period of time without the 32 GB drive filling up.

Thank you, thank you. This totally worked. Never been in the bios in my computer.
