I've been given an HP ENVY (I think that's the model) laptop. The original owner upgraded to a new device and gave me his old one (the ENVY) but he's forgotten the pin number/password (used the fingerprint lock) and i'm okay with doing a full reformat. I tried getting in by using the F8 trick and I could not get it to work. I recently got a new HP pc (love it) and if I can get this new (to me) laptop it'll be my 3rd HP laptop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your notebook was made in 2016 or later, see if it is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool:
