I have a working laptop (Probook 470 G8) but want to reinstall Windows 10. For that I need a storage driver otherwise I can't install Windows 10. I found this support article: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_4859717-4859823-16
and downloaded Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver from https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/closure/hp-470-g8-notebook-pc/2100408959 as dictated by the support article but when I select the F6 folder during Windows installation as mentioned by the support article, no drivers are found. When I uncheck 'Hide drivers that aren't compatible' (which is different from the support article because in the support article that option is checked), a bunch of drivers show but none of them are the VMD controller as shown in the screenshot of the support article. I tried them anyway but they don't work. I also tried the other folders, same result.

I also tried different versions of Windows (all legal) but no difference.

Where do I get a proper storage driver for my laptop so I can install Windows 10?

See if the Intel storage controller driver that I zipped up and attached below works:

The attached file is good for both W10 & W11.

Copy all of the files in both folders in the attached file to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the W10/W11 installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Click Next and if those are the right drivers Windows should find the drive and install.

If your notebook came with Windows, you can also see if the HP cloud recovery client software is supported to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.

HP Business PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Client in Windows 11 and Windows 10 | HP® Support

Here's the link to the software download:

Cloud Recovery Client

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp150501-151000/sp150676.exe

Since you have to use the utility on another PC, you will have to enter your notebook's serial number in the tool's search window in order to proceed.
