Windows updates impossible as memory full, however 5GB recovery partition exists on hard-drive.

Unable to remove partition using HP recovery embedded software.

Unable to remove partition using command prompt (C:?)

Accessing command prompt from within recovery software gives access to X:?

Using X: command prompt partition removed successfully, upon restart:

First of all, let's get our terms right -- it's not "memory", it's "disk space".

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

Yes you are right about memory/disk space and the article in the link does offer some hope.

However, the immediate problem is that I cannot access the operating system as it will not boot.

I do have access to the BIOS.

I have tried to load a linux OS via a USB as described, and I cannot get this to work either.

Therefore I am trying to recover something from this machine rather than throw it in the bin, never to buy HP again!
