6005 Pro SFF
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I just installed a new motherboard in my mothers HP 6005 Pro SFF and it fixed the problem, however now I am having a problem where Windows will not load and the computer is unable to reload windows from a restore point or repair program.  I was told that I need to get an ISO image on DVD and simply reinstall Windows 7 but Microsoft tells me that they can't help because Windows 7 was loaded on a HP computer at their factory.  Does anyone know of any way I can get this ISO file so that I can reinstall windows?  I don't want to do a format and Windows 7 install but rather I would like to simply reinstall Windows 7 as mentioned above.  I would greatly appreciate any help!!!!   Thanks in advance!!!!

Hi:

If you can read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on the PC's case, you can make your own W7 installation media as follows...

Click on the Windows ISO Downloader.exe link to download the tool to create the W7 ISO file download.

Select the Windows COEM ISO file download for the version of W7 the product key is good for.

I have zipped up and attached the Microsoft utility below, that will allow you to either put the file on a USB flash drive or DVD, or you can use a different free utility such as Rufus.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page...

Sounds ike your hard drive can be going bad or maybe your "new" motherboard has issues.

I would run diagnostics before doing anything else.

Thanks a LOT for the information and links!!  I am currently downloading the W7 ISO file, I am assuming that when I burn it to a DVD then I will load it into the computer that I am wanting to reinstall W7 and it will ask me for the Microsoft key at that time and then it will give me an option which will allow me to reinstall W7, does that sound about right?  I am pretty sure that just reinstalling W7 will fix my problem but I have never done that procedure before.  Thanks again!!

You're very welcome.

That is correct.

I think you also have the option to skip entering the product key during the installation process and you can enter it after W7 installs.

It's been a while since I have install W7 on a PC, so I don't exactly remember if that is the case.

But I do know it will ask you to enter a product key during the installation process.
