HP 14 Laptop PC 14-f2000 (4X5B5AV)

I spilled soda on my laptop. It is still functional but I don't know how long. The keyboard seems damp. I have a care pack with accidental damage coverage. What steps should I take, if any, aside from shutting it down and unplugging it?

You are not the first to have this problem.

Many smartphone have a water detection chip to help manufacturers avoid warranty work.

I have not seen any laptops with that protection.

Try to clean it up and if it fails then try warranty repair.

Sorry for the bad news -- but what you did is considered "accidental damage" and the warranty does not cover this; it only covers manufacturing defects.  There is no point in contacting HP for repairs because they will not fix this under the warranty.
