Hello, I have an hp laptop model # 17-by1053dx and I need help. My ssd died and I had never done a system backup, so I have no info saved what do ever. (Stupid, I know) My new, compatible ssd arrived and I installed it. Now I need to locate the windows 10 license key for the copy of windows that came installed on my original ssd and figure out how to get it onto my new one, and I have no idea how to do it. I am also unsure if my version of windows 10 was the 64 bit. I just had to select something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi:
The W10 product key is in your notebook's BIOS.
You don't need it to install W10.
Also, your notebook is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to create a bootable USB recovery drive that you can use to reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook on the new drive.
Here is an info link for how to use that utility...you will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with, and another Windows PC running W7 64 bit or newer.
