HP Pavilion g series X16-96084
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Please can someone help?  I did a fresh install of windows 7 - 64bit on an HP Pavilion g6 laptop and don't have the system drivers or recovery disc.  I now cannot connect to the internet to find the drivers (writing this from another computer) as the network controller does not have a driver, and there is also a problem with the drivers for the display adaptors.

I have looked and looked on the HP website but cannot find this laptop model.

You're very welcome.

You need these drivers for the:

Ethernet controller

This package provides the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver that enables the Realtek Network Interface Card (NIC) Chip in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

File name: sp55031.exe

PCI device

This package contains the driver that enables the Realtek Card Reader in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The card reader enables users to read from or write to supported removable storage cards, which are typically used in digital cameras, digital music players, and cellular phones.

File name: sp55030.exe

PCI simple communications controller

This package provides the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The Intel Management Engine Interface enables communication between the host operating system and the Intel Management Engine firmware.

File name: sp52795.exe

For the network controller, I don't know what model wireless card your notebook has, so please post the hardware ID for the network controller, and I will then post the link to the driver you need for it.

To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the Network Controller device needing the driver.

Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window.

Now you will see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description.

Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's).

Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

I have to go out for a while, so when I get back in a few hours, I will post the link to the wireless driver for you.

You can also google the hardware ID and it should tell you the model of the wireless card in your search.

Then you can just pick the matching driver instead of waiting for me to get back.

Hi:

Enter the product number of your PC in the search box at the link below and you will be directed to the support and driver page for your specific model g6.

http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en

What you posted...g6 X16-96084 is of no help.

The product number can be found on the same sticker as the serial number, or read the info at the link below for how to find the model number of your PC.

Thank you for your feedback.  I have found the model number is g6-1076si and i have found the drivers.  However, for the network drivers there are a few and i don't know which one/s to choose.  I have tried looking in my device manager the details under properties to try to identify, but it just says driver not installed.

I have a yellow exclamation mark next to :

  Ethernet controller

  Network controller

  PCI device

  PCI simple communications controller

What is my next step?
