HP Laptop Windows 10 x64
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Situation:

My old laptop ran x64 Windows 8.1

My new laptop that I ordered from the HP store is arriving in the mail tomorrow or Monday, and will be pre-installed with

x64 Windows 10

My old laptop ran on an HDD, and the new laptop on a SSD, so I cannot plug in my HDD w/ my OS, since it would be hanging out.

Is there a viable way in which I can change out the OS on my new laptop to continue using my older version.

Thanks in advance! 😄

Depending what is your new machine, you may not run Windows 7 nor Windows 8/8.1 at all because no drivers. Microsoft and hardware  vendors simply stopped to write codes (drivers) for their hardware.
