Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I see that Intel has released microcode updates:
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/new-intel-microcode-updates-for-windows-10-fix-cpu-h...

"In recent times, Intel microcode patches are commonly used to fix hardware security vulnerabilities such as Spectre, Meltdown, and Microarchitectural Data Sampling (MDS) vulnerabilities."

My understanding is that microcode updates can be done in Windows patches, which can slow down the computer, or in the BIOS.

I downloaded the latest bios update from the HP Support Assistant for my Kaby Lake Refresh U 4+2 processor.
Which is from June 2020.

When I run the Intel utility to check the microcode version, it says I have CPU Revision D6 which I have read is also referred to as OxD6.

But on this intel page, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4558130/intel-microcode-updates

it says the new microcode update will install OxB4 which sounds older.

Any thoughts on this?

@Vince99

It it an Intel fix. I think it is much better to ask Intel. OxD6 and OxB4 are two different things (2 hex values), we can't apply specific fix for OxB4 on OxD6 and vise versa

Hope this makes sense

Regards.
