I just setup my new notebook and in the process I added a PIN and facial recognition for logging in.
However it never prompter my for a administrators password.
I have some software that needs the password to be supplied.
How do I setup the admin password or how do I find out if there is a default admin password that has been setup without myknowledge?

Hi @RodLB,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for reaching out — and congratulations on your new HP Omnibook X 14!
When you first set up Windows 11 on a new notebook and create a user account with a PIN or facial recognition,
Please note: Windows does not set a default administrator password. If the PC came with one preset, it’s likely managed by whoever set up the device (like a company or retailer or IT). HP does not preconfigure admin passwords on personal laptops.
Here’s how you can check and manage your admin settings:
Check if your account is an Administrator:
- Right-click the Start menu (Windows icon) and choose “Settings.”
- Go to Accounts > Your Info.
- Under your name, it should say "Administrator" if your account has admin rights.
If you're not an administrator and need one:
- If another admin account exists, you’ll need to log in with that to make changes.
- If no other admin account exists and you're locked out of admin privileges, you may need to reset Windows or use advanced recovery options to create a new admin account.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
