HP 14 Laptop (30J32AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My wife got totally locked out of her laptop and there was no way to get back in so I had to reinstall windows. I download the windows 10 installer thumb drive and go to work. I then realized none of the laptops drivers are pre installed so I had to extract a hard drive driver onto the windows thumb drive.

I was finally able to get windows 10 running but there’s no wifi driver. I found the driver on the HP webpage but I wasn’t able to install it because windows is in “S Mode” and won’t allow me to install the wifi driver. Then, I found no way to take it out of s mode because I don’t have internet access.

also tried the device manager to install the driver but it never even recognized that a driver was on the thumb drive.

Is there any way to get windows working on this laptop or is it just garbage now? The lack of Ethernet port is really annoying.

Hi:

Do you know what model wifi adapter your notebook has?

If not, can you post the hardware ID for the Network Controller device needing the driver?

That is the wifi adapter in need of a driver.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device.

How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices in the Device Manager (howtogeek.com)

The notebook certainly isn't garbage because worst case scenario is you go out and buy a cheap USB wifi adapter that does not need drivers for W10, and use that to temporarily connect to the internet and switch out of S mode or see if Windows update installs the drivers you need.
