Hi @Jennykacz9

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP laptop froze during the setup process while you were trying to set up your PIN. This can sometimes happen due to a temporary glitch, or it could be caused by an issue with system files or settings. Here are some steps you can try to fix the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Restart

Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve freezing issues. Here's how to do a hard restart:

  1. Force shut down your laptop by pressing and holding the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop completely turns off.
  2. Wait a few seconds and then turn the laptop back on by pressing the power button.

Once the laptop powers up, check if you can proceed past the PIN setup screen.

2. Try to Boot Into Safe Mode

If the laptop is still frozen, you can try to boot into Safe Mode to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Force a restart by pressing and holding the power button for about 10 seconds.
  2. Turn on the laptop again and as soon as it starts, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds again to force another shutdown.
  3. Repeat this two to three times until you see "Preparing Automatic Repair" on the screen.
  4. Once the repair options appear, select Advanced options.
  5. Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and then click Restart.
  6. Once the system restarts, select 4 or F4 to boot into Safe Mode.

After booting into Safe Mode, check if the PIN issue persists. If not, you may be able to reset the PIN or complete the setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
