Microsoft Windows 11

Brand new laptop. Trying to set up. Enter country, enter keyboard. Then tells me I need to connect to internet, but does not search for network, so am stuck. Help!

The new MS setup requires an Internet connection because they are FORCING you to use an MSN login instead of a local login.

 

I don't know if you are using wired ethernet or WiFi.  If the first, disconnect the ethernet cable, if the second, disable the WiFi.

 

Once you have done that, you should be able to continue setup but with a local account, which you will have to create.

 

If that does not work, then you will have to click on the "globe" icon down in the taskbar (which indicates no WiFi connection). list the available networks and find the one being broadcast by your WiFi router.  If you don't have such a router, you are stuck because any PC has to talk to the Internet through such a device.
