Hi @Miller110

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear your new laptop won't turn on! That’s definitely frustrating. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot:

Check the Power Supply:

  • Make sure the charger is plugged in properly and that it’s connected to a working outlet. Sometimes the issue is as simple as a loose connection or an outlet that isn't working.
  • If possible, test the charger with another device to confirm it’s working.

Try a Hard Reset:

  • Unplug the charger and remove any external devices (USB drives, etc.).
  • Hold the power button for about 10–15 seconds. This can help reset any minor power issues.
  • After that, plug the charger back in and try turning it on again.

Check the Battery:

  • If the laptop has a removable battery, try removing it, waiting for a few seconds, then reattaching it and attempting to power on again.
  • If the battery is non-removable, you might want to try a different charger or check the charging light indicator.

Look for Lights or Sounds:

  • Check for any signs that the laptop is receiving power (like indicator lights or fan noises). If there are no lights at all, it could indicate a deeper hardware issue.
  • If you hear fan noise but the screen doesn’t light up, it could be a display issue.

Test with an External Monitor (if possible):

  • If the laptop seems to be on but the screen is black, try connecting it to an external monitor to check if it’s a display issue.

Wait for It to Charge:

  • Sometimes new laptops don’t have enough charge out of the box. Leave it plugged in for 20–30 minutes, then try turning it on again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
