I purchased my laptop in July 2023, I don't know what happened, but it is saying that I don't have a "bootable device" and to insert the boot disk. How can I obtain the boot disk?

Hi @Vonia,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP Notebook says "No Bootable Device," it typically means that your computer can't find an operating system to boot from. This issue can be caused by several factors, including a malfunctioning hard drive, corrupted system files, or incorrect BIOS settings. Here's what you can do.
Check BIOS Settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup by pressing the appropriate key during startup (usually Esc, F2, F10, or Del).
- Ensure that your hard drive is listed as a bootable device. If it's not, check if it's properly connected or recognized in the BIOS.
Run Diagnostics:
- Many HP laptops come with built-in diagnostics. Restart your laptop and press F2 to access HP's Hardware Diagnostics. Run a test on your hard drive to check for any issues.
Boot from USB or Recovery Media:
- If the hard drive seems fine, you might need to use a bootable USB drive or recovery media to fix the issue.
- Create Recovery Media: You can create a bootable USB drive with Windows installation media using another computer. Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's website and follow the instructions to create a bootable USB.
- Use Recovery Media: Insert the bootable USB into your laptop and restart it. Enter the BIOS/UEFI setup and change the boot order to prioritize the USB drive. Save the changes and restart again to boot from the USB. You can use this to repair your system or reinstall Windows if necessary.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
