I have an HP laptop type Elitebook 840 G1 Basic model
Product J0D90AV
After a Windows 10 update, the laptop refuses to boot to the hard drive.
The laptop does not respond to a USB boot device.
After pressing ESC and F9 when starting, it appears that only the hard drive and Ethernet options are available in the boot cycle.
To adjust this via F10 Bios Setup, a password is needed - I no longer have this and hoped that after 3 incorrect passwords a generic code would be generated that could possibly be used to generate a possible password. However, there will be an online keyboard...
I also tried draining the bios battery for more than 30 minutes. disconnecting the laptop in the hope that this would remove the bios password, but no success.
What are my options to continue using the laptop, even if that means installing a fresh Windows 10?
