I don't have enough space to reset my laptop. I have deleted almost everything that can be deleted but the reset fails due to needing 8gig. I only have 1.2 gig free. I don't care about the files and would be happy to reinstall windows 10. How do I proceed?

You can reinstall Windows 10 at any time and it will not cost you anything, however you will not have enough space to create the bootable Windows 10 media, you will need to do that on another working PC.
You may want to read a MS forum thread here at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/not-enough-space-to-factory-rese...
Performing a factory reset means that you are taking everything: every file, program, etc. that you have installed or any changes you have made to programs already on the machine. It's better that you back up your computer on a regular basis.
As for the space issue, you may randomly get message saying your hard drive is out of space when you attempt to update to any further Windows 10 updates. In that case, you may want to read Methods to Fix Not Enough Space for Windows 10. Update.
