Ever since I got my laptop it has been lagging but I dealt with it. Within last couple days when I would turn it on it would sit with the loading circle at the bottom then do nothing until I turn off thenback on then it attemps to diagnose and repair the problem but never finds one and I am still unable to turn on. I can perform a back up, or a reset, but I have some unsaved pictures and other items. Please help, I spent over $300 and have had nothing but issues

Often lagging indicates a problem with the hard drive. The behavior now indicates a problem with the hard drive. Are you still within the 1 year HP warranty?
Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and run the tests.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately my warrenty expired in April (before I coupd get a job). I did the ESC and F2 and ran a couple of scans for it to give me a warning about one of the hard drive scans. The only option it really gave at that point was to reset it. I tried resetting it last night but somehow hit an error and was unable to proceed. I am trying the reset to keep my files. Update: reset got as far as undoing changes then it says something happened and was unable to complete reset
