Hi and thank you for helping
I have upgraded a Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook to Ubuntu 20.04 64bit running 4GB of memory. It runs fine, but is slow. May I ask if this can now be upgraded to 8GB or beyond? I have checked a few websites and haven't found the right answer.

I'm sorry, but HP only warranties their PCs for usage with the OS that comes preinstalled.
IF you replace that with a Linux distro, or add a Linux distro, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that -- including solving any problems with booting the other OS and/or installing the other OS.
Modern PCs with UEFI, instead of the older BIOS, are especially difficult to install because you have to go into the UEFI settings and make several changes before you can even boot from a USB stick -- and we are unable to assist in that work.
Your best bet for support now is to contact the support forum of the distro you are using.
Since you are using Ubuntu, go here: https://ubuntuforums.org/
Good Luck

He is asking for a Hardware Upgrade oO
Your answer has nothing to do with his question.
(But the title is missleading)
@Keypadder
I don't think that a memory upgrade from 4GB to 8GB will let run your pc faster.

I didn't look on your hardware.
There are just 3 question:
How many ram slots are avaible?
Which Ram is used (DDR, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4 and so on)
Are there Ram modules which contains 8GB / slots?
If yes, then you can do it. But it will not be a good investment.
Most times the ram can be easily exchanged. you just have to remove something on the back.
Mostly there are 2 slots.
