HP Envy 4-1001et
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi there,

My HP Envy 4-1001et running Win 7 Home 64 bit  failed to boot yesterday with File: \Boot\BCD  Status: 0xc000000f error screen.

I could not get into on disk recovery utility via pressing F8 and does not have any recovery media.

I made harddisk and memory test by pressing F2 and both tests passed.

I downloaded Win7 Home SP1 image from Heidoc.net, burned into DVD and tried to boot from external DVD drive

After DVD boot and win 7 image get into function but my harddisk was not recognized. So  I could not go to command prompt and enter BCD restore commands.

My harddisk test was passed but the DVD image boot could not recognize any harddisk.

What can be the reason for that?

I thank you for any advise and comment.

Please check what port you are using. Windows 7 does not include USB 3.0 drivers by default so you will either need to modify the Windows installation media and add them your self or use the 1 USB 2.0 port on your machine. It is easier to just use the USB 2.0 port as Windows 7 already has support for USB 2.0.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply.

After burning Heidoc rescue Win7 DVD image. I connected the external DVD drive to Envy (both USB 2 and USB3 ports behave similarly) and it boots the Win7 image . But this image does not detect any harddisk to rescue. So it does not detect the internal harddisk of Envy. But the harddisk test passed successfully via HP diagnostic test. (invoked via F2 key during power on)

So I could not do further command line actions to refresh the BCD file.
