OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wf0000 (755G3AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I installed the new BIOS update via HP Support Assistant, and since then, my PC has been getting quite hot when playing Warzone. Before the update, it was around 60 degrees Celsius, and now it's over 70 degrees Celsius. What can I do?

@Kingpint, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop is running hotter than usual after a recent BIOS update, especially while playing Warzone. Let’s work through this together to bring those temperatures back down.

Reset BIOS Settings to Default

Sometimes, BIOS updates can change thermal or performance settings.

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS.
  • Once in BIOS, press F9 to load default settings.
  • Press F10 to save and exit.

Update All Drivers and OMEN Gaming Hub

Ensure all system drivers and OMEN software are up to date:

  • Open HP Support Assistant and check for updates: HP Support Assistant Download
  • Update OMEN Gaming Hub via Microsoft Store.
  • In OMEN Gaming Hub, check the Performance Control settings and ensure it’s set to Balanced or Performance mode.

Check Thermal Settings in OMEN Gaming Hub

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub.
  • Go to Performance Control > Thermal Control.
  • Set the fan mode to Max or Auto to improve cooling during gaming.

Clean Air Vents and Use a Cooling Pad

Dust buildup can restrict airflow:

  • Use compressed air to gently clean the vents.
  • Consider using a laptop cooling pad for better airflow during intense gaming sessions.

Roll Back BIOS (if necessary)

If the issue started only after the BIOS update and persists:

  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your product: OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wf0000
  • Look for an earlier BIOS version under the BIOS section.
  • Follow the instructions to safely roll back.

Rolling back BIOS should be done with caution. Ensure your laptop is plugged in and do not interrupt the process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I solved the problem by reinstalling the previous Nvidia driver update. Apparently, there's a bug in the latest update. Thanks for the help.
