@Isro

Thank you for replying with this detailed response 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

I understand your concern, please take you time,

That said, here are the answers to your questions (I hope I get them all) 😉

  1. Re-installation of windows will not affect the BIOS version.
  2. If you keep your data & app, you don't have to reinstall the drivers as it wouldn't be removed either (You need to create a backup of your data on an external source, and reinstall windows without data or app to complete a successful OS reinstallation.
  3. the price of the CMOS Battery isn't much, probably $3-$5 max and you get it at any local tech store.
  4. HP recommends you update the driver from the HP Support site as it has drivers molded to work with other parts of your device. (And when an update is available it will be added to the list of updates, accordingly)

Hey there! @Isro, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have performance issues after updating the drivers on your PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?

As you mentioned you have performance issues after updating the drivers on your PC.

Try the steps recommended below to restore BIOS to default.

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Also, I would suggest you enable Fast Start-Up on the system and check if it helps. To do this, follow the steps below.
1. Open Control Panel and go to Power Options.
2. Click/tap on the Choose what the power buttons do link on the left side.
3. Click/tap on the Change settings that are currently unavailable link at the top.
4. If prompted by UAC, then click/tap on Yes.
5. Ensure that Turn on Fast Startup is checked.
6. Restart the computer.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps try the steps recommended below.

In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow. Make sure to include the space between sfc and the /.
Press Enter and wait while System File Checker scans for corrupted files.
When scanning is complete, the results are displayed on the screen.
If the file checker found and replaced any corrupted files, restart the computer and check the performance.
If the file checker did not find any corrupted files or found corrupted files but could not replace them, go to the next step.
If System File Checker finds corrupted files but cannot replace them, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. DISM checks the corrupted files; then downloads and replaces the files using Windows Update.
In Windows, open a web browser.
   NOTE:
You need to be connected to the Internet to use DISM.
In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. Make sure to include the space before each / in the command line.
Press Enter and wait while DISM works. This might take several minutes.
If DISM finds corrupted files, it replaces them using Windows Update. If this occurs, after DISM is finished, restart your computer and see if the performance has improved.

If the issue still persists try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware on your laptop is functioning correctly.

HI, sorry for the slow respond. these past days i've been trying to figure out what's wrong with my laptop. here is a few things i have tried, :

1. Rollback Display Driver Update

So, i did try to rollback the update to the driver version before my laptop performance dropped. it does help a little bit, a few games is playable again. but i got max 30FPS on dota 2 (Low setting), which i use to have 40+ FPS at Medium setting. So yes, this doesn't help.

2. Downgrade BIOS

I have tried everything to do this. But no luck, i'm not able to downgrade it. since i can't install update with lower version, i tried using WINKey+V+PowerButton method, but i got this "CMOS Checksum invalid" thing and i can't start the BIOS update. (I use 16GB USB Flash Drive)

I haven't tried to restore BIOS to default because i think it only restore the BIOS to the default setting not to lower version.

Is there anyway i can Dwongrade my BIOS version? will restoring BIOS to default do it?.

3. Install BIOS version F.23 for Windows 10 Pro 1803

This is strange. My windows is running on version 1709, but when i tried to use BIOS version for 1803, some of the problem seems to be gone (But some games now only have 10FPS at max while the other is increasing). So i decided to upgrade my windows instead of trying to do something with this BIOS. But i got another problem, There is no update for 1803 on windows setting that i can download, and the last attempt on istalling it was failed. Then i decided to download Windows 10 Update Assistant. Another problem comes up, right now my Windows 10 Update Assistant is on Download LOOP which after 100% it goes back to 0% and statr downloading again without even trying to install it. So yes, there is NO Error CODE on this error. I can't find the way to fix it.

Fast startup is enabled, DISM and Sfc/Scannow is not helping at all.

Thanks for the fast respond. Please help me figure this out :))

Here's an HP expert opinion on CMOS checksum failed error: Click here to view.

That said, before we tackle the other issues, its important we fix the above as it could be a hardware malfunction & the device may require a repair, alternatively you could get the CMOS battery replaced locally (at your own discretion), however, if the issue persists:

OK, i won't try to contact HP Center for now, because there is no HP center in my city, i bought this laptop from another city. and i can't lose any days without using a laptop since i have so much works to do.

there's a few things i would like to try first.

i have some question :

will reinstalling windows also revert my BIOS to default version?

Should i reinstall every driver after reinstalling windows if i keep my data & APP?

Can you tell me the price of CMOS battery?

I also want to know the best way to update my Display Driver? updating from device manager give me BSoD error, and HP support driver not always up to date.

Thanks.
